| Our values
Miksau is much more than simply a resort or retreat centre. Miksau is unique because it is based on a whole life view, philosophy and purpose, with opportunities for all-embracing change for individuals, families and organizations.
InclusionThe value of inclusion is substantiated in openness to all cultures, lifestyles and ways of being, while recognizing that we need to be accepted for who we are. All intents for exploration of self and enhancement of self and relationships (whether they are marital, family or co-worker) are supported.
VibrancyThe value of vibrancy speaks of aliveness, being open to change and being current. It requires that those involved in Miksau programming continue with their own professional and personal growth and demonstrate attentiveness to the needs of the client.
ChangeChange is inevitable. We believe in everyones capacity to change, re-invent ourselves, rid ourselves of those things that entrench old patterns and inhibit our expression of joy and compassion. As we learn to live in the moment we realize that we are in constant flux; each moment is new. This diminishes our fears of the unknown.
Self-expressionThis value honours the uniqueness of the individual and the courage to be who we are with integrity and congruence. We avoid using templates of success, believing that "the trouble with normal is that it always gets worse" (Bruce Cockburn) and that the inhibitions to self-expression (e.g. guilt, habit, addiction, apathy) can be transformed into life-giving energies. As we deepen our comfort with self, we recognize the creative genius within.
Co-CreatorThe value of co-creation means that we are joined with the power of the divine, earth and primal energies to create a balance which has its expression in the attunement with land, spirit, and the other, in ways beyond the obvious. It is our way of accepting our power as human beings, as part of the collective whole, humanity, the planet, the universe, that we can find true responsibility, stewardship and a deep peace within.
OnenessIn our experience of empathically traveling with others on retreat, we find ourselves being part of the whole. At Miksau, we do not hold to dualistic views of the world and see the holy, beauty and love in everyone. As consciousness expands, we see all separation as illusion and see the unity of self with spirit, soul or divine.
